Lands Management Committee: Committee’s 11th meeting held in Dawei

The 11th coordination meeting of the Taninthayi Region Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Lands Management Committee and the 11th coordination meeting of the Farmland Management Body was held on December 17 at the meeting hall of the Taninthayi Region Government Office in Dawei.

At the meeting, the Chairman of the Taninthayi Region Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Lands Management Committee and the Farmland Management Body, Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, stated that the region government has been reviewing and carrying out various tasks related to farmland within the region, including work necessary for regional development and matters related to economic activities.

He noted in particular that, where land is used for alternative purposes, MSME enterprises that will contribute to regional development have been established and are being implemented. He also said that arrangements are underway to construct an Elephant Foot Yam factory for regional development that the region has extensive garden lands, and that misunderstandings may arise in the use of farmland.

Therefore, he emphasized the need for responsible officials to scrutinize and supervise land use in accordance with the law. He further called on meeting participants to collectively offer suggestions and discussions on matters related to farmland.
