Labour-Dispute Settlement Forum : MoL UM attended and delivered opening speech

The opening ceremony of the Forum on Labour Dispute Settlement was held at the hall of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) in Lanmadaw Township, Yangon Region on October 24. Union Minister for the Ministry of Labour U Aung Kyaw Hoe attended and delivered the opening address.

In his opening address, the Union Minister stated that this forum is being held with the aim of yielding positive outcomes for dispute settlement processes by discussing and exchanging views on the difficulties, challenges, strengths, weaknesses encountered in conciliation, mediation, and adjudication in accordance with the Labour Dispute Settlement Law, the ability to settle matters in line with the law, and methods for handling disputes.

Subsequently, the Chief Minister of Yangon Region Government stated that within Yangon Region, the formation of Workplace Coordination Committees (WCC) in factories and workshops has been completed. He expressed that by resolving issues in accordance with laws and procedures, township conciliation and mediation teams will help build trust between employers and workers, leading to a reduction in disputes.

In the afternoon, Union Minister U Aung Kyaw Hoe attended and addressed the Job Fair ceremony held within Yangon Region. Following this, the Union Minister for Labour and the Yangon Region Chief Minister cut the ribbon to open the Job Fair.

They then toured the booths of the companies and businesses participating in the fair and showed support for the job seekers. On October 23, Union Minister for Labour U Aung Kyaw Hoe, along with responsible officials, visited the Skill Training School (Yankin) in Yankin Township to observe and support the ongoing delivery of the Electrical Wiring Installation Training Course, Batch No. (2/2025).

This course is opened under the guidance of the Yangon Region Committee on the Elimination of Child Labour. He also toured and inspected the training school premises, it’s reported.
