An art project in the Ukrainian city of Irpin is using burnt out cars as canvas and also raising funds to help rebuild the city. The project, called "Flowers for hope", was initiated by Trek Thunder Kelly, an artist from Los Angeles.
He and a number of Ukrainians were painting sunflowers on dumped, burnt out cars. Roman Yanko and his mother Olena Yanko were among those who joined in.
He said there was a special significance of the sunflowers which is the symbol of commemoration of those who died in the war. It is also a flower that symbolizes Ukraine.
Artists plan to paint a mural in the destroyed cultural center in Irpin and turn the mural into a non-fungible token. The money raised will go towards local humanitarian projects, they said.
