





A knowledge sharing session on the usefulness of earthquake-resilient commercial steel in post-earthquake recovery efforts was held at Myanmar Engineering Council Office in Yangon on Saturday.
Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than attended the event and made a speech, stressing the need to make systematic quality test, following the set standards. He added that plans are underway to designate the standards for locally produced steels while also making quality control for imported items. He urged all to produce quality steel materials for construction works.
During the session, discussions were made on awareness on steel standardization, knowledge on construction works, usefulness of earthquake-resilient commercial steel in post-earthquake recovery efforts, upgrading local steel mills, producing quality steel bars, standardization of locally produced steels, role of steel bars in construction works and quake-resilient infrastructures.
