Japanese Prime Minister Kishida and the Bank of Japan Governor Ueda met on Tuesday to exchange views about the foreign exchange rate. The Japanese yen recently plunged against the dollar to its lowest level in 34 years.

The Japanese currency plunged to 160 yen against the dollar on 29th April, and then rebounded sharply to the 154 to 155 yen level. On 2nd May, the yen gained ground again, generating speculation that the central bank intervened repeatedly.
