



The 66th Anniversary Celebration of Kayin State Day was held on the 7th of November 2021 in Hpa-an. The event was attended by Acting State Chief Minister Colonel Myo Min Naung, State cabinet ministers, and representatives from ethnic organizations and political parties.
At the ceremony, attendees paid tribute to the flag of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and fallen heroes and soldiers. The message from Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on the occasion of the 66th Anniversary of Kayin State Day was read out.
Kayin State is located in the south of Myanmar. Papun area of Thanlwin District was designated as Kayin State in accord with Amendment Act No 62 of the Constitution in 1951. Kayin State was expanded with Kya-in-Seikkyi Township, Kawkareik Township, Hlaingbwe Township, Hpa-an Township and Thandaunggyi Township, totalling five related to Thanlwin District as the second phase in accord with the Extension of Karen State Act 14 in 1952.
The Kayin State was reconstituted again with seven townships with setting Myawaddy as a township on 1 March 1960. 7th November 1955 was designated as Kayin State Day when the President signed the 1951 Constitution Amendment Act to set Thanlwin District as Kayin State.
