Kathina Robe Offering : Ceremony held at Maravijaya Monastery

Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony took place at Maravijaya Monastery in the compound of Maravijaya Buddha Park in Nay Pyi Taw Dekhinathiri Township on Friday. Acting President and Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife attended the ceremony.

They first offered emerald alms bowl, fruits, flowers and water to the Buddha image. The ceremony then commenced by three time recitation of Namotasa, and the congregation received five precepts from the Patron Sayadaw of Maravijaya Monastery.

The Acting President and wife later donated Kathina Robe and offertories to the Patron Sayadaw of Maravijaya Monastery. This was followed by donation of kathina Robes and offertories to the Sayadaws by Vice Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Vice Senior General Soe Win and wife, commission members Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, Executive Chief U Aung Lin Dwe, Commission Secretary Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo and their wives, commission members and union ministers.

The congregation later listened to the sermon, delivered by the Patron Sayadaw of Pali Takkatho Mingala Zayon Pariyati Sarthintaik of Pyinmana, and shared the merits gained. After the ceremony, the Acting President and party viewed the offertories to be donated to the Maravijaya Monastery. The donations worth over 53 million kyat. This was followed by offering of day meals to the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha.
