Kathina Festival: Religious event and visit to MRTV

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn attended the opening ceremony of the 55th Tatkone Township Maha Kathina Festival held at the entrance of Sasana Viman in Tatkone Township on Friday.

After formal opening of the ceremony, the Union Minister and party observed the preparations of offertories donated by government departments, schools, wards, and private donors. The Maha Kathina Festival will continue from October 31 to November 4, featuring donation processions, traditional music, and dance.

On November 6, the main donation ceremony will take place at Aung San Hall, with offerings distributed to 49 monasteries in Tatkone Township. In the evening, five large hot-air balloons and 500 small ones will be released in celebration.

From November 1 to 3, a traditional cart race will be held, with 28 carts competing for prizes ranging from 500,000 to 65 million kyats. Music concerts by famous singers will take place from November 2 to 4.

Later, the Union Minister visited Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) to inspect preparations for political party campaign recordings for the 2025 Multi-Party Democracy General Election. He urged staff to follow proper procedures and maintain quality production. H

e also inspected ongoing earthquake repair works at the MRTV headquarters carried out by Shwe Taung Construction, and instructed for timely completion according to standards.

The Union Minister also visited the MRTV staff housing, observed the meal arrangements, and encouraged staff members.
