Kamyawkin Bridge project: The project expected to complete by March 2023

The construction of Kamyawkin bridge project, crossing the Dawei river in the Taninthayi region is expected to be completed by March 2023, according to the Ministry of Construction.

The bridge construction project has been completed at 49 per cent. The Bridge Task Force 4, the bridge department of the Ministry of Construction is putting efforts to complete the construction within the timeframe.

“The foundation for the bridge is being dug. The girders for approaching roads are under the construction process. So far, the project has been finished 49 per cent,” said the official from the task force. It is located between the Dawei-Kamyawkin-Launglon road sections of the Taninthayi Region.

The 1,050 feet long two-lane new bridge is 24 feet in width, five feet each of sidewalk and the waterway clearance is 164 feet in width and 16 feet in height. The old Kamyawkin bridge located between mileposts 2/2 and 2/3 of Dawei-Launglon road was constructed in 1972 and completed in 1975.

The new Kamyawkin Bridge project was started on 16 February 2021. Upon the completion of the project, it will be convenient travelling for the residents as well as local travellers from across the country, according to the announcement of the Ministry.
