The Japanese government on Monday extended their "heartfelt congratulations" to French President Emmanuel Macron on his reelection.

Yoshihiko Isozaki, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, said during a news conference in Tokyo that Japan intends to continue to strengthen Japan-France relations.

"I would like to work closely with President Macron in a wide range of fields, including Russia's invasion of Ukraine and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region," Kishida wrote in his tweet posted Monday.
