Japan-US Foreign Minister talks

Japanese new Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met on the sidelines of the Ministerial meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) in Peru on Thursday.

During the meeting, Iwaya told Blinken that strengthening the Japan-US alliance’s deterrence and response capabilities continues to be the top priority of Japan’s new government under Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru. Noting that the alliance is crucial in maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region. They also discussed economic collaboration and elevating the bilateral alliance to an even higher level.
