Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi Yoshimasa has described the Gaza ceasefire agreement as a crucial step toward Japan’s goal of improving the humanitarian situation in Gaza and easing tensions in the region.

He praised the efforts of all those who worked to achieve the deal and urged all parties to abide by the agreement sincerely and steadily.

He said Japan will remain in close contact with the relevant countries and institutions, and actively engage in international efforts for a better humanitarian situation, reconstruction and governance in Gaza. He also promised diplomatic efforts toward a “two-state solution” and long-term regional peace and stability.
