The Chinese Embassy in Tokyo held a livestreaming event on Tuesday, showing Xiang Xiang at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Sichuan Province. She is due to turn seven in June.

Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wu Jianghao welcomed guests, saying that he feels their deep affection toward Xiang Xiang. He expressed the hope that bilateral ties can be further promoted through giant pandas.Live footage showed Xiang Xiang sitting on the ground and eating her favorite bamboo.

A caretaker at the center said the panda began to react to human speech in Chinese about three months after coming to the country. They said she is still shy and loves sleeping, adding that she appears to have become accustomed to the Chinese environment.
