Iranian President Hassan Rouhani attacked the United States' presence in Syria on Sunday, calling it "invasive, illegal, and interfering". His comments were made ahead of planned talks on Syria due to be held with Russian President and Turkish President on Monday. The summit in Ankara will focus on the Idlib region that is the last remaining territory held by rebels seeking to overthrow President Assad. It hopes to secure a lasting truce in northwest Syria after attacks by the government that risk deepening regional turmoil and pushing a new wave of migrants towards Turkey. Putin and Rouhani have backed Assad against the rebels. Turkey's Erdogan, along with the United States, European and Arab allies, has supported different rebel factions in the conflict.
