Investments in October: Investments worth over 156 billion kyats

Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) approved 13 investments in October this year. The 13 investments included electricity, industrial, agricultural, hotel and tourism industries and worth over 156 billion kyats.
Thant Sin Lwin, Director General, DICA , said " The 13 investments sectors are electricity, agriculture farming, hotel and tourism, and mining industry etc and worth 178 million USD and over 156 billion kyats. During the 2022-2023 budget years, we were able to allow many investments projects and expected 1.4 billion in foreign investments. For the local investments, we estimated 1000 billion kyats and we received 545 billion kyats which is over half of the expectation. The investments of electricity industry are solar and renewable energy that can generate electricity in short-term."
For the foreign investments, Singapore is the largest investor with 365 investments worth 25.8 billion USD which is 27% of the total investments.
And China and Thailand followed by 564 investments worth 21.7 billion USD which is 23.5% and 152 investments worth 11.51 billion USD which is 12.45% of the total investments.
