







According to the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MIFER), Myanmar received 1,863.55 million dollars worth of foreign investment and about 789.042 billion kyats were received for local investment between the 1stof January and the 27thof December 2022 and the electricity sector received the most investment.
Dr. Wah Wah Maung, Deputy Minister, MIFER said "Regarding foreign investment, power sector received the most, followed by the service and industrial sectors. Also, the most local investment entered the power sector, followed by construction and industrial sectors. Investments are still needed in the power sector, so we are trying to attract more. Investment in power sector is related to industrial sector. Between 1st January and 30th November 2022, Thilawa special economic zone received 39.488 million dollars."
In 2022, there were more than 90 foreign investments and about 62 local investments. The government permits foreign investments in 12 sectors such as agriculture, livestock and fisheries, mining, manufacturing, electrical power, oil and gas, construction, transport and communications, hotels and tourism, real estate, industrial zones and the services sector.
