





The Forest Department held a ceremony on Friday in Nay Pyi Taw to mark the International Day of Forests, in conjunction with the 75th anniversary Diamond Jubilee of its Thit Taw Kyay Mone publication.
Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Min Thu attended the event, together with officials and invited guests.
In his opening remarks, the Deputy Minister highlighted that the United Nations General Assembly designated March 21 as the International Day of Forests in 2012 to promote understanding of forests and ecosystems and encourage conservation activities. This year’s theme is “Forests and Economies.” The Thit Taw Kyay Mone, first published in 1951, provides news, articles, poems, and cartoons on forests and the environment written by current and retired forest staff. The publication has now reached its 75th anniversary, offering valuable knowledge for future generations.
Forest Department Director General Dr. Thaung Naing Oo and University of Forestry and Environmental Science Rector Dr. Khin Maung Sint then gave key note presentation. Videos commemorating the International Day of Forests and the publication’s Diamond Jubilee were screened, followed by a tour of exhibitions and posters. This was followed by the reading of three papers by experts and a discussion under the title “Forests and Economy.
