Int’l Women’s Day Celebration: Shan State CM delivered the speech of honor

Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, accompanied by officials, attended the ceremony commemorating International Women’s Day 2026 held at the Taunggyi City Hall in the morning on March 8th.

The Chief Minister delivered the opening address, after which the Chief Minister and attendees viewed a video clip honoring International Women’s Day. The event featured cultural performances by students from local philanthropic care centers.

The Chief Minister and officials presented awards to three winners of the Advanced Tailoring Course, which was jointly organized by the Shan State Women’s Committee and the Shan State Social Welfare Office.

Next, Chairperson of the Shan State Women’s Affairs Association Daw Soe Papa, and officials presented honorary cash awards to the students from the philanthropic care centers who participated in the performances.

Following that, the Chief Minister proceeded to the State Sports Ground to attend the AFC Women’s Football Day 2026 festival.

The festival was officially inaugurated by Chief Minister U Aung Aung, state ministers, the Secretary of the State Government, and officials from the State Women’s Affairs Association, who performed the ceremonial kickoff. Then, they toured the field to encourage the athletes during their training sessions.

While at the sports complex, the Chief Minister also visited the opening of Referee Training Course (1/2026) and Match Commissioner Training Course (1/2026). These courses are conducted under the supervision of the Shan State Government in collaboration with the Shan State Sports and Physical Education Department, the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) and the Shan State Football Federation

The Chief Minister observed the training sessions and provided necessary instructions to ensure the success of the programs, it’s reported.
