Int’l Literacy Day in Mandalay: MDY CM attended the ceremony

Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung attended the 2025-2026 Mandalay Region International Literacy Day ceremony, held at the Basic Education High School No. 16 in Chanayethazan Township, in the morning oo September 8.

 The ceremony began with students performing the song "Knowledge is the Only Treasure."

During his opening speech, the Chief Minister stated that the 21st century is the age of education, where knowledge, skills, and technology are used to build a new society. He emphasized that literacy is a collective responsibility, not just an individual one. He urged everyone to work together to eradicate illiteracy and prevent the illiteracy rate from increasing.

Next, a video clip on literacy activities for International Literacy Day 2025 was shown. Afterward, the Chief Minister presented cash prizes and certificates of honor to the winners of the regional-level high school and middle school essay competitions.

He then watched the performances by students from various basic education schools and from the non-formal primary education program in Pyigyidagun Township. The Chief Minister presented them with cash awards and toured the exhibition.
