Int’l Human Rights Day: SAC VC addressed the celebration

Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win attended a ceremony to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of International Human Rights Day at the Myanmar International Convention Center-1 Nay Pyi Taw on Sunday and delivered a speech.

The ceremony was attended by members of the State Administration Council, Union level personnel, Union Ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, Tatmadaw officials, Commander of Nay Pyi Taw command, Deputy Ministers, officials from Myanmar National Human Right Commission and invited guests.  

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Senior General stressed that Myanmar became a member of United Nations on 19th April, 1948. As the Universal Declaration of Human Rights- UDHR was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly commenced on 10th of December in 1948, 10th December was claimed as the International Human Rights Day.

The commemorative ceremonies are being held across the world today to mark the 75th Anniversary of International Human Rights Day.  With the purpose for protection of the original rights of the citizens in the provisions of 2008 State constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and entitlement of human rights included in the United Nations Universal Human Rights Declaration, Myanmar National Human Rights Commission has been formed and it’s reached to 12 full years.

Myanmar participates in the international human rights agreements and conventions and is adopting the provisions in the agreements and conventions. Next, Chair of Myanmar National Human Rights Commission U Paw Lwin Sein clarified the work implementations and the Vice Chair Dr. Nanda Mhwun read International Human Rights Day commemoration message sent by the Secretary General of United Nations.

Then, Video Clip featured 75th Anniversary Universal Human Rights Declaration by UN marking the International Human Rights Day and a documentary Video launching 8 languages of Naga ethnic group and Kachin (Lawwaw) ethnic language versions of Universal Human Rughts Declaration which is a collaborative program with the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs.

Next, Chair of Myanmar National Human Rights Commission presented memorable gift of honor to the SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister. Then, the artistes from the Department of Fine Arts under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture performed with a song honoring Human Rights Day.

Afterward, the SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister together with the attendees observed the photo on the activities of Myanmar National Human Rights Commission and published books on Human Rights.
