At the invitation of Mr. Zhang Jianhua, Head of the National Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China, the Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for the Ministry of Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, who is in China to attend the 2025 International Forum on Energy Transition and to undertake matters related to energy cooperation between Myanmar and China, visited mature oil fields in Yulin Province on the afternoon of October 18.

A team led by the Chairman of the state-owned Yanchang Company provided an explanatory tour. On October 19, at the meeting hall of the North Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, the team led by the Chairman presented on the successful efforts to increase oil production from various mature oil fields, the technologies and methods that should be continued for oil fields in Myanmar based on their geological age and strata, the need for digital technology-based management of oil fields, and the benefits gained from applying advanced technologies.

The Union Minister engaged in further discussion, and the company's responsible officials discussed potential avenues for cooperation. Subsequently, the Myanmar delegation visited a factory manufacturing equipment used in 3D seismic surveying operations. Responsible officials at the factory provided an explanatory tour inside the plant, detailing the production of individual components, the assembly of finished parts, and the testing status of final products.

They also conducted live demonstrations using the produced advanced Wireless 3D Seismic equipment and showcased ongoing tasks for evaluating the obtained data. As the Ministry of Energy currently only conducts Wireline 2D Seismic operations, the adoption of Wireless 3D Seismic equipment would bring benefits such as the ability to explore and confirm new oil and natural gas reservoirs, reasonably accurate estimation of reserves and by conducting additional surveys in areas already surveyed with Wireline 2D Seismic, the ability to provide precise and comprehensive geological data for exploration.

This would significantly support the ongoing efforts to increase domestic production of oil and natural gas, it’s reported.
