Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han made inspections in Ayeyawaddy Region.

First, the Union Minister inspected the condition of generating electricity from hydroelectric power and solar energy at the Kanyin Reservoir in Ingapu Township. There, he heard report on information on the Reservoir, inflow of water, water storage, the state of water supply to farms and pre-exploration of electricity generation from hydropower and solar energy.

In his response, pledging to provide assistance, the Union Minister said that according to the pre-feasibility study, 9.9 megawatts from hydroelectric power and 20 megawatts from solar energy can be generated from this Reservoir.

In the Region, another resource such as wind power projects are also being planned to be implemented. The Union Minister urged the concerned officials to implement the project at the Reservoir as soon as possible.

It’s reported that the Kanyin Reservoir not only supplies water for summer paddy cultivation, but also will produce electricity using hydropower and solar energy, and distribute to the surrounding villages.

Also, in Pathein Township, the Union Minister met with electrical engineers and staff and heard report on matters including electricity distribution, measures to reduce power loss and power outages and plans.

And, the Union Minister said that to continuously distribute electricity until the next summer, the water entering the dams is being properly stored and maintained.

In this period of time, due to the imbalance in the production and consumption of electricity, it is necessary to distribute electric power in a fair way.
