Inspection Tour: Union Minister Inspects Hydropower Plants in Bago

Union Minister for the Ministry of Electric Power and Ministry of Energy U Thaung Han on Thursday made inspections in the eastern Bago Region.
First, at the Kun Creek Hydropower Plant southwest of Phyu Township, the Union Minister heard reports on the plant information, annual water inflow, water storage and power generator driving conditions, activities to be carried out according to the financial year, maintenance and security measures. In his response, the Union Minister stressed that as the availability of electricity is key to the development of the country, the ministry must continuously implement new projects based on the availability of natural resources which will be economically cost-effective and have the least impact on the environment and social environment.
He also called on concerned officials to make efforts for the continuous production of electricity and plant sustainability, to carry out regular maintenance activities and to pay special attention to security measures. There, the Union Minister also inspected electricity production, turbine room, inflow of water, water storage, spillway and the main dam strength condition. Also, at the Phyu Creek Hydropower Plant west of Phyu Township, the Union Minister heard reports and inspected the turbine room, water inflow and condition of the main dam strength.
It’s learnt that the Kun Creek Hydropower Plant supplies an average of 190 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year and the Phyu Creek Hydropower Plant an average of 120 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year to the national power system.
