Inspection tour: Union Minister inspected hydro-power electricity projects

Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aung Than Oo together with the chairman of Sagaing Region Administration Council U Maung Maung Lin inspected Maw Laik hydroelectricity generating project planned to construct on Chindwin River near Maw Laik Township, Sagaing Region on Saturday.

First, the Union Minister and party arrived at the site where the Maw Laik hydro-electricity generating project will be implemented and the responsible officials clarified the Maw Laik hydro-power electricity-generating project and Manipur hydro-power electricity generating project.

Regarding clarifications, the union minister elaborated the Maw Laik hydro-power electricity-generating project included construction of the gravel-filled dam, installation of 8 turbines which will generate 100 megawatts each and the annual average generating of 3800 million kilowatt-hours, and Manipur hydro-power electricity-generating project the construction included construction of the gravel-filled dam, installation of 4 turbines which will generate 95 megawatts each and the annual average generating of 1903 million kilowatt-hours and the site where the main dam will be constructed was inspected.

Next, the Union Minister and party arrived at 230 KV Daung Ywe main substations implementing by the Electricity supply and supervising department in Amarapura Township.

The Deputy Director-General and officials concerned clarified the construction works of the substation and the union minister gave the necessary guidelines and inspected the project worksite, it’s learnt.
