Inspection tour: SG inspects Myanma Shipyards

Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing together with Joint Secretary of the SAC Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Union Ministers and officials inspected Myanma Shipyards of the Ministry of Transport and Communications in Kamayut Township, Yangon Region on Wednesday.

Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San and the Managing Director of Myanma Shipyards reported on the salient points of the shipyards and progress of works, construction of vessels and repairing tasks to the Senior General and party. In response to the reports, the Senior General said that the shipyward is more than 60 years of history and it has a good tradition and started the new history of water transport.

The vessels that are necessary for water transport and security measures in the long coastal border and water territory of the country must be constructed. The International standard largevessels have to be constructed at the Myanma Shipyards and it also encourages to the revival of water transport.

The Prime Minister stressed on construction of coastal ships, fishing and express vessels and repairing, upgrading of marine transport by constructing cargo ships that can voyage to neighboring countries,making efforts for construction of cruise liners and human resources for implementing the tasks.

He added that the shipyard has experienced on construction of vessels and repairing for over 50 years and it needs to make efforts for re-establishing the new chapter of Myanma Shipyards. Later, the Prime Minister and party viewed around the shipyard and looked into functions of 12,000-ton water-proof dockyard and coordinated essential.The Prime Minister then presented honour aria for the staff of the shipyard.
