Inspection Tour: Flood prevention works in Hinthada Township

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw on June 19, inspected flood prevention projects in Hinthada Township. They visited digging of canals in Phayagyi Kone village near Pathein and discussed drainage plans to reduce urban flooding and protect farmlands.

The Deputy Minister instructed close coordination with design departments for effective water management.

In Yaykyi Township, they inspected the renovation of Myekyilaha embankment and reviewed the condition of sluice gates, reservoirs, emergency equipment, and irrigation projects.

He urged thorough inspection for weaknesses in embankments and proper maintenance in line with regulations. They also visited Bodhi Kone, Mezali Nyunt and Ngawon embankment sto assess construction progress.

Currently, the Ngawon embankment system stretches over 73 miles, with 18 water stations, protecting over 300,000 acres from flood risks, with extra staff deployed during the rainy season.
