Inspection Tour: Efforts for development of local industries

Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than visited the Sabal village tract in Pyawbwe Township, Mandalay Region on 10th August to assess the thriving conditions of the pre-monsoon cotton plantations.

During the visit, the Union Minister urged farmers to boost cotton cultivation to achieve self-sufficiency in the domestic clothing sector. He highlighted government support, including providing cotton seeds, inputs, and advanced farming techniques.

The Union Minister noted that applying proper agricultural practices will improve both the yield and quality of cotton. Next, the Union Minister paid a visit to the Aung Gabar cotton depot in Pyawbwe Township, where he reviewed the cotton market, inquired about this year's cotton quality and checked the storage conditions.

Next, the Union Minister proceeded to the Yemathin District Directorate of Industrial Supervision and Inspection, and heard report on district industrial sector and the support provided for MSME development. The Union Minister then instructed staff to adhere to laws and regulations in their supervision and inspection duties, ensuring orderly industrial development and environmental protection.

On August 11th, the Union Minister inspected TBL Limited's cotton field in Zeyathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw. During the visit, he stressed that the Ministry will address needs to boost high-yield hybrid seed production and stressed to expand research tasks.

He also toured the test plantation of TBL-KTK-1 species. Afterward, the Union Minister visited the Shwe Pyi Soe Oil Mill in Pyinmana Township where he discussed the market situation, raw material availability and the operation of oil mills in Nay Pyi Taw, meeting consumers’ needs.

Upon the arrival at the Pyinmana District Directorate of Industrial Supervision and Inspection, the Union Minister stressed the importance of continuously assessing development conditions along the production chain. He then instructed staff to follow industry laws and prioritize MSME development.
