




Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Khun Thant Zaw Htoo and Deputy Minister U Zaw Aye Maung, accompanied by relevant officials, in the morning of May 5, visited the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs compound to inspect the temporary housing (basha buildings) provided for ministry staff and their families displaced by the recent Mandalay earthquake.
The Union Minister and officials, first, observed the six-unit staff housing area within the ministry’s premises, where temporary basha structures had been built for each staff family. They inspected the living conditions, including electricity and water connections, bathroom and sanitation facilities, and encouraged the staff families, while also addressing and providing for any immediate needs.
Following that, they inspected the locations designated for the planned installation of container houses to be provided by the government, and instructed responsible officials to prepare in advance for their arrival and setup.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister and officials also visited Gold Camp, the sports training center in Nay Pyi Taw, where additional staff families from the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs were temporarily relocated. They met with the staff, offered words of encouragement, and coordinated to address any outstanding needs and support requirements.
