






The Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing accompanied by members of entourage, Chief Minister of Yangon Region, Commander of Yangon Command and officials visited City Circular Train Diesel Locomotive Factory (Insein) of Myanma Railways under the Ministry of Transport and Communications and inspected work implementations on 7th October.
First, the SAC member Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo clarified the work implementations regarding with the Yangon City Circular train tract upgrading project and the Deputy Minister U Aung Myaing explained the status of implementing for running in High speed on major railway tract sections and other requirements.
Regarding with the clarifications, the SAC Chairman emphasized that in order to increase the speed on major railway lines to up to 80 kilometers per hour, research must be conducted on specific sections, especially on curves, to ensure speed limits are followed appropriately.
He also noted that areas where the tracks and bridges do not meet these speed requirements need to be reviewed, and a suitable speed standard that aligns with the country's railway conditions must be established. He highlighted that Myanmar's railway transport system has been in operation since 1877, over 100 years ago, but it still lags behind when compared to other countries.
The railway tracks are the most crucial element in rail transportation, and it is essential to use standardized materials like stones and concrete sleepers, ensuring durability and compliance with the set standards.If the railway lines are in good condition and trains can operate on time and at high speeds, the public will increasingly use rail transportation.
To ensure trains can run at the designated speeds, it is necessary to reduce the number of level crossings and construct underpasses. Additionally, railway zones must adhere to the laws and regulations as specified.After that, the SAC Chairman and party oversaw the DEMU New train carriages purchased from Spain and gave necessary instructions on the requirements clarified by the officials concerned.
