Inspection of MEB Headquarters: MoFR UM inspected MEB Headquarters in Nay Pyi Taw

Union Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr. Kan Zaw, together with Deputy Ministers Daw Than Than Lin and U Han Win Aung, as well as relevant departmental officials, visited the headquarters of Myanma Economic Bank and its Nay Pyi Taw branch in the afternoon on August 5, to inspect ongoing operations and meet with the bank staff.

First, the Union Minister inspected the Myanma Economic Bank Nay Pyi Taw Branch, observing the operations carried out by staff, customer transactions including deposits and withdrawals, the structural integrity and security measures of the headquarters building and other facilities affected by the earthquake, and the living conditions of staff housed in temporary modular houses within the bank compound.

Following the inspection, the Union Minister met with bank staff and delivered the guidance and instructions. Afterward, Deputy Minister Daw Than Than Lin provided a briefing on ensuring that bank records are maintained systematically in line with banking regulations and standards.

She also addressed the urgent need to reconstruct the bank buildings that were damaged by the earthquake. Then, the Managing Director of Myanma Economic Bank provided a detailed report on the bank’s current operations, the status of efforts to reconstruct damaged buildings, the provision of banking services, and the living conditions of staff residing in modular houses.

Continuing the visit, the Union Minister further inspected the office buildings, the bank’s museum, and the temporary modular housing units within the bank compound. He provided guidance on the necessary improvements based on the observed conditions.
