Inspection of Constructing Lab: MoI UM inspected status of constructing laboratory

The Union Minister for Industry, Dr. Charlie Than, accompanied by responsible officials, visited the Primary Chemistry Laboratory currently under construction within the compound of the Research Department in Insein Township on the afternoon of December 23.

At the meeting hall, responsible officials gave briefings on the progress of construction of the Primary Chemistry Laboratory and the status of equipment installation.

The Union Minister instructed that arrangements be made to enable chemical materials to be tested as quickly as possible, that the capacities and competencies of staff who will conduct chemical testing be enhanced, that systematic plans be drawn up and implemented for future operations of the Primary Chemistry Laboratory and that strict supervision be ensured so that staff conducting chemical testing strictly comply with prescribed safety procedures to prevent hazards.

He then toured the facility to inspect the status of installed equipment for testing chemical substances and microorganisms in preparation for the opening of the Primary Chemistry Laboratory. Subsequently, the Union Minister proceeded to the Research Department, where responsible officials briefed him in the meeting hall on ongoing activities.

The Union Minister provided guidance for the Research Department to work toward increasing the production of new pharmaceutical products and to penetrate the market by adopting modern design technologies in packaging systems, to increase production capacity to adequately meet the public demand for widely used medicines essential to public health, to also carry out testing of MSME products and to conduct necessary testing of industrial waste materials to ensure that they do not adversely affect public health, according to requirements, it’s reported.
