Indian lawmakers picked up brooms and swept in front of the parliament building in New Delhi on Saturday as part of an ongoing cleanliness drive. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the nationwide campaign to raise awareness of cleanliness and better sanitation in 2014, on the birthday of independence leader Mahatma Gandhi.

This aims to inform people about the link between sanitation and public health. But the sweep in front of parliament was met with criticism online after the lawmakers appeared to sweep an already clean area and had trouble wielding their brooms.
