Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Aung Kyaw Tun attended the INDIA MARITIME WEEK - 2025 event at the NESCO Exhibition Center in Mumbai.

At the event, there were discussions and clarifications on sectors related to the cruise passenger economy, carbon reduction in the maritime transport sector, the development of transformational engine ports, strengthening the logistics and supply chain, finance and investment for the blue economy, maritime digital transformation and future technology development, maritime safety and security, port development across the Indo-Pacific region, and human resource development.

In his address at the Ministerial-level meeting, the Deputy Minister stated that new trade routes could be opened and regional connectivity would be improved upon the signing of the India-Myanmar Coastal Shipping Agreement.

He further said that the BIMSTEC Coastal Shipping Agreement would help create convenient maritime connections along the Bay of Bengal. He emphasized that maintaining a robust global maritime supply chain cannot be achieved by a single coastal nation alone, but is a shared responsibility requiring cooperation from all coastal nations. He concluded by saying that Myanmar will continue to cooperate with regional countries such as ASEAN and BIMSTEC for the development of the maritime trade sector.
