Increasing landslide activity threatens Can Tho city

Despite being the dry season, a series of landslides have occurred in Cần Thơ, Thốt Nốt District of Viet Nam - two houses have been damaged by landslides, costing over 39 thousand USD. Subsequent landslides caused three houses on the bank of the Thốt Nốt river to collapse into the waters.
From the beginning of the year until now, there have been 9 landslide incidents in Cần Thơ City, resulting in total property damage of around 472 thousand USD. According to experts, the prolonged intense heat combined with low tides has caused the ground to develop many cracks. Additionally, the construction of houses along rivers and canals is also a contributing factor to the increasing frequency of landslides.
