The incoming US national security advisor has suggested President-elect Donald Trump will maintain current trilateral frameworks such as Japan-US-South Korea and Japan-US-Philippines.

Mike Waltz, a member of the US House of Representatives, has been picked as Trump's national security advisor.

He spoke at a Washington think tank on Tuesday. He said these dialogues helped those countries and governments "overcome historic animosities with a shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific." He added that he thinks all these things will continue.
