













The Mon State Government on Saturday held an awareness event in Mawlamyine to educate the public about the 1982 Myanmar Citizenship Law and to ensure that all eligible citizens can fully exercise their voting rights in the upcoming December 2025 multi-party democratic elections.
Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein stressed that citizens need to understand their rights and responsibilities under the Constitution. He said understanding the citizenship law and procedures helps people deal smoothly with government departments.
He pointed out that the event aims to make sure no eligible citizen loses their right to vote. During the session, an official explained the key points of the 1982 Citizenship Law, immigration services being provided, and measures to ensure every citizen keeps their voting rights.
Participants including teachers, students, ethnic groups, and social and religious organizations, attended the event which also featured the photo displays showing immigration activities, as well as the biometric enrolment application process.
