Illegal trade: Timbers, precursor chemicals, vehicles confiscated

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

On 9 December, on-duty teams under the management of the Customs Department confiscated electronic equipment that did not claim designated date from the warehouse of at the Yangon International Airport and brooms and related items that do not match with the import declaration at Hteedan port.

Similarly, combined inspection teams nabbed 28,500 kilogrammes of monosodium glutamate branded EPPEN and a vehicle with a trailer carrying that monosodium glutamate on the Myawady-Yangon road. A combined team led by region Forest Department seized 10.80 tonnes of illegal timbers.

On 10 December, a combined inspection team seized 8,000 kilos of ammonium nitrate, and four vehicles at Nantsiaung combined checkpoint in Mohnyin Township, Kachin State. A combined inspection team seized 69 bullocks and two vehicles at the junction of No 3 highway checkpoint on Yangon-Bago road.

Therefore, 15 arrests approximately 624.841 million Kyats were made on 9 and 10 December, according to the Steering Committee.
