Illegal Trade: Timbers, Consumer Goods, Cosmetics And Vehicles Seized

The action is being taken against illicit trade under the lawsupervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 23 April, a combined inspection team led by the Region Forest Department under the supervision of the Yangon Region Anti-Illegal Trade Special Task Force seized illegal teak furniture parts and teak doors and two vehicles that carried these things on the Yangon-Pyay Road in MingaladonTownship.

On 25 April, the consumer goods and cosmeticswhich were not declared in the Import Declaration, were also seized during an inspection conducted by the inspection team on duty at the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Checkpoint.

Similarly, the consumer goods that do not show any official documents, with a 12-wheeler truck that carried these things were seized in Muse Township.

In addition, on 26 April, illegal timbers were seized in Bago District and Toungoo District during an inspection conducted by the inspection team led by the Forest Department.

Similarly, an unregistered Honda Fit GE6 vehicle in the Sagaing Region during an inspection conducted by the inspection team led by the Police Force under the supervision of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Special Task Force. Therefore, the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee stated that ten arrests (estimated at 189.54 million kyats) were made on 23, 25 and 26 April.
