Illegal trade: Timbers, consumer goods, chemicals seized

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. On 19th January, a combined inspection team under the management of Ayeyawady Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force seized 35.03 tons of illegal timbers in Pathein and Hinthata districts.

On 20th January, an on-duty inspection team under the supervision of Custom Department nabbed five kinds of goods including 548 Kgs of Preprinted Galvanized Iron Sheet In Coil at Asia World Container Checkpoint. On 22nd January, an on-duty combined inspection team under the Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force of Sagaing Region confiscated illegal trafficking of 1452 liters of Nitric Acid and 747 liters of Hydrogen Peroxide on a vehicle  at Sagaing Township gate.

On 23rd January, a combined inspection team seized over 10,000 sets of cork sandals not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from Isuzu vehicle driven from Myawady to Yangon. Similarly, a combined inspection team under the supervision of Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force of Bago Region nabbed 5600 kilogrammes of Polypropylen Plastic Resin not declared in the chart from a Nissan Tractor Head which was driven from Myawady to Yangon. Therefore, 11 arrests at estimated value of 239.398 million Kyats were made from 19 to 23 January, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
