Illegal trade: Timbers, car parts, restricted chemicals, vehicles seized

The effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 4 July, an on-duty team confiscated car parts that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a 22-wheel truck heading from Myawady to Yangon at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint, according to information.

On 6 July, a combined team captured various fruits and foodstuffs and restricted 5,950 kilogrammes of chemical – ammonium nitrate–that were imported with duty free and without any official documents from a Honda Odyssey car, a Nissan Caravan car and a Toyota HiAce car at Attaran Bridge (side of the Industrial Zone) of Mawlamyine township under the Mon State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force.

On the same day, illegal teak were captured near the Lotus Tollgate on the Thaton-Hpa-an Road.

On 7 July, an unregistered motorbike was confiscated in Shwebo township and four unregistered motorbikes were captured in Khamti township. In addition, a team led by the Forest Department Officials captured a total of 48.39 tonnes of illegal teak, hardwood and other timbers in Bago, Pyay and Thayawady districts.

Therefore, 25 arrests estimated at 221.21 million Kyats were made on 4, 6 and 7 July, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
