Illegal trade: Timbers, animals, unregistered vehicles seized

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, action is being taken under the law against illegal trades across the country.

The combined inspection team led by Customs Department and Myanmar Police Force seized cosmetics, hand gel and masks, which showed no official documents at the warehouse of the 81st street and 27thx28th streets in Mandalay Township on 20 May.

On the same day, the Forest Department inspection team captured timbers. On 22 May, the Bago Township Customs Department inspection team confiscated foodstuffs which had no official documents, from a vehicle at the 83rd-mile 5-furlong between the Sittoung Bridge and Nyaungkhashay.

On 23 May, the Bago Region Forest Department seized illegal timbers in Bago and Toungoo Districts. On the same day, the Forest Department inspection team confiscated illegal timbers and an unregistered Nissan AD van car in Monywa and Sagaing Townships.

Myanmar Police Force seized an unregistered motorbike in Ayadaw Township and 22 heads of cattle in Kanbalu Township. Therefore, on 20, 22 and 23 May, 16 arrests were made totaling an estimated value of 80.64 million Kyats, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
