Illegal trade: Teak, animals, and foodstuffs seized

The effective action is being taken supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee to prevent illicit trade under the law.

On 25 April, an inspection team led by the Myanmar Police Force seized nine illegally imported cattle in Kalay Township. Similarly, a combined inspection team led by the Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force confiscated illegal timber in Phyu and Ottwin townships, Bago Region.

In addition, under the management of the Customs Department, a combined inspection team on duty at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint of Mon State seized food items and clothes on two passenger vehicles without official documents and Jean trousers carried by one 22-wheeler vehicle.

As a result, seven arrests (estimated at 22.69 million Kyats) were made, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
