Illegal trade: Illegal timbers, palm oil, fuel, consumer goods, vehicles seized

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 27 November, a combined team captured 7,200 litres of palm oil without official documents in Myeik Township and clothes and consumer goods without official documents from a Mitsubishi Fuso truck at the Pauktai Bridge checkpoint on Myeik-Dawei road.

Similarly, a combined team seized 200 gallons of illegal fuel and 320 gallons of illegal crude oil from two threewheel motorbikes in Minbu Township. On 28 November, a combined team impounded 29,426 litres of palm oil without official documents in the Yadanahtun wholesale shop in Mawlamyine Township.

On 29 November, officials confiscated 2,460 kilogrammes of softener that were not declared in the import declaration (ID) from a Nissan Diesel car and palm oil, softener and cement bags without official documents at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint in Mon State.

A total of 5.33 tonnes of illegal timbers was also confiscated in Bago and Toungoo districts. Therefore, 16 arrests (at an estimated value of over 280 million Kyats) were made on three consecutive days from 27 to 29 November, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
