Illegal Trade: Illegal Items Worth Over 249 Million Kyats Seized

Under the supervision of Anti-illegal Trade Steering Committee, concerned officials have been making inspections on trade.

On the 3rdand 4thof May, undocumented foodstuff and consumer goods, illegal energy drink, undeclared consumer goods, illegal medicines, illegal crude oil barrels and illegal timbers were seized at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Checkpoint in Kayin State, Mayanchaung Checkpoint in Mon State, Myanmar Industrial Port Container Checkpoint and Yangon International Airport in Yangon Region and in Pakokku Township of Magwe Region, Oatwin Township of Bago Region and Sagaing Township of Sagaing Region.

In total, illegal items worth over 249million Kyats were seized on the 3rd and 4th of May. Investigation is underway and legal actions have been taken in line with the laws.
