A dazzling array of hydrangeas are blossoming at a state-run park in Kagawa Prefecture, western Japan. Hydrangeas blossom during the rainy season that usually begins before or during the month of June in much of Japan.

Sanuki Manno Park has 20,000 shrubs representing 40 different types of hydrangeas. It launched a flower festival on Saturday. The early-flowering types are now in full bloom. Among the highlights are hydrangeas with oak-like leaves and petal-like calyces that transition from white to red.

The event will run through June 25. Visitors can borrow traditional Japanese umbrellas and other items for photography sessions.
