





The Ministry of Ethnic Affairs organized the 3rd Myanmar traditional Htamane (Sticky Rice) making contest at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.
Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Deputy Minister U Zaw Aye Maung, departmental officials and staff actively participated in the event.
On the occasion, the Union Minister said that as Myanmar is a country where most of the Buddhist people are residing, the holding festivals are based on the Buddhist culture. Out of the twelve seasonal festivals of Myanmar, Tabodwe falls on the 11th month and in this month, Htamane making contest is held.
The Union Minister called for the participants to show their abilities to work together, organizational spirit and to show discipline in the competition. He urged them to nurture the spirit that loves for the department, the ministry and the country through the contest as well as to preserve Myanmar traditional festivals in accord with tradition and customs.
The Union Minister, the Deputy Minister and officials cordially greeted the participating teams and encouraged their competing. Three teams from the Union Ministry office and the departments under the Ministry participated in the contest and the permanent secretary, the Deputy Minister and the Union Minister presented prizes to the winning teams, respectively.
The staff from the Ministry entertained with the songs and encouraged competing of the participating teams.
