


Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung together with Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin and officials attended opening ceremony information counter at Magway Mya Thalun pagoda on May 15th.
At the ceremony, the Union Minister said that the information counter aimed at providing correct information and development of tourism industry. In sharing the information, it needs to distribute pamphlets for tourism promotion but also share the information by keeping them in the computer.
He also stressed the staffs at the information centers need to enrich regional knowledge of the destinations. Later, Magway Region Chief Minister gave a speech. A local hotel in Magway donated wheel chairs for the disabled and elders.
The Union Minister and the Magway Region Chief Minister formally opened the information counter. On arrival at Magway Airport, the Union Minister and party inspected information counter opened by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism to provide correct information to local and foreign tourists and fulfilled the needs. The Union Minister then visited Magway Highway Bus terminal and fulfilled the necessary requirements for opening information counter for visitors.
At the Magway Region Government Office, the Union Minister held meeting with Magway Region Economic Affairs Minister and officials from Magway Region Tourism Committee, Hotelier Association and discussed matters on hotels and tourism sector development.
He then presented certificates of recognition on national level health and safety protocol to three hotels. In the afternoon, the Union Minister attended opening of personal goods producing technical skills training for disability employment jointly conducted by the Department of Social Welfare, the Small Scale Industries Department and the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism in Magway.
During the inspection, the Union Minister viewed around maintenance of Nan Myint tower in Bagan-Nyaung U and arrangements for giving services to local and foreign visitors. On 16th May, the Union Minister met departmental officials and officials from Hotels and Tourism Association at the Heritage Bagan Hotel. and gave instructions on giving services to visitors from local and abroad in line with international norms.
Later, he met with those who attended awareness seminar for local visitors at Thiri Pyitsaya Sakura hotel. The Union Minister also looked into preparations for hotel rooms at Royal Palace Hotel.
