Bangladesh has witnessed a significant spike in dengue cases this month, with 5,732 cases and 34 deaths registered.

The figures showed that the number of dengue cases has surged to 7,754 in Bangladesh this year. On average, 500-700 people are diagnosed with dengue every day in Dhaka. The shortage of hospital beds also exacerbates the situation as the number of patients surpasses the available capacity.

Consequently, patients are being treated in hospital corridors and on the floor due to the overwhelming pressure. The June-September monsoon period is the season of dengue fever in Bangladesh which is considered a high-risk nation prone to mosquito-borne diseases.
