In commemoration of the 40th Ruby Jubilee of the Ministry of Energy and the centennial anniversary of the Thanlyin Oil Refinery, the Energy Museum was opened within the compound of the Thanlyin Oil Refinery in Thanlyin Township, Yangon Region on December 24.

The Energy Museum features systematically arranged exhibits spanning different eras from the monarchical period to the present day.

These include historical records, documentary evidence, scale models, artifacts, displays on oil and natural gas exploration and production processes, equipment used in oil extraction and production, diorama models, offshore blocks, special exhibition halls marking the centennial anniversary of the Thanlyin Oil Refinery, refinery scale models, and exhibitions illustrating future plans and processes of the energy sector through three-dimensional models.

The museum has been opened with the objectives of providing knowledge about the history of Myanmar’s energy sector, informing visitors about the sector’s future plans and processes, and enabling future generations of students to learn about energy-related operations in a single location.

The museum will be open to the public and students daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except on Monday. In addition, books and reference materials related to the energy sector, as well as the Energy Newsletter published biweekly, will also be available for sale.
