High Hope : Voters hope for socio-economic development

In Kyauktada Township of Yangon Region, voters came to cast vote at the respective polling stations.

Seven candidates from Shan and Nationalities Democratic Party, People’s Party, Union Solidarity and Development Party, People’s Pioneer Party, Myanmar Farmers Development Party and two Independent Candidates run for Pyithu Hluttaw seats in Kyauktada Constituency, Voters expressed their hopes for betterment of the country, ensuring socio-economic development of the nation. [Soundbites] This year's election is being conducted under a dual electoral system.

The Pyithu Hluttaw continues to use the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) system, while the Amyotha Hluttaw and Region/State Hluttaws are using a Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) system. The adoption of the MMP system is intended to allow representation in proportion to votes received, including for ethnic and smaller political parties.
